Sometimes, a random change of plans is purposely mandatory:
Even with the best laid out itineraries, I still have to wedge in that spontaneous off schedule moment just to stay focused. Sounds totally wrong and oxymoron-ish, but it is how my mind keeps from looping. By looping, I mean the second guessing starts and the what if questions: what if I am too repetitive in these photos, is this blurry, why does that look off now, what if the client wanted that part of a stream and not this one, is that a real smile or beyond that point, is the tree to treelike?
I need a moment. Call it a reset, a squirrel snap, a breather, whatever. I need to go get lost to refocus. Where I can find that spontaneous story that drives everything else back on track. Old roads and Old buildings are my favorite tools. This particular day gave me both. These are a few inspirations I found on this short, old farm access backroad.
